OOC: MacGyver - Season 3 on DVD - release date: 6 September 2005

Just a pick-up game with the kids at the rink. Start slow, you know? Funny thing is, they hit harder than I do. Kids.

And, Pete, yes, the doc said it was okay for me to play - a little. That's what I'm doing. Playing - a little.

The kids, they're great. They all want to be Gretzky or Messier or Hull (either one). They're out here having fun and playing hard. Gonna let them get back to that. I'm heading for the locker room...

Falling. He feels like he's falling, then there's a strong, friendly hand grabbing his. Holding on. He squeezes back, knowing he's safe... safer. He's okay. Pete's okay.

But, the guy, the one who wants them both dead, he's here. Mac needs to tell Pete. To help him. Mac scratches his fingers against the sheets. Pete will understand.

There's something under his hand. He draws the symbol again and Pete looks angry. Pete has the Egyptian men hauled away. That's a very good sign.

Mac sighs and closes his eyes to rest. He can hardly feel the rest of his body, but he knows he's not dead.

Thanks, Pete.

******

Pete checked me out of the hospital yesterday. Okay, so I didn't need the help, but I couldn't tell Pete 'no' on this one.

We're leaving later this afternoon to go to Harry's funeral. Pete told me he called the hospital in Minnesota to let them know that I'd be coming and to wait before they did anything. Again - thanks, Pete.

"When you're alive, everything you do has an affect on others. You make ripples, like tossing a stone in a pond..."

Harry always was pretty smart. There's a reason I remember a lot of what he used to tell me. What he said there is true. That's why I have to go back; help Pete.

"I have to get off this ship..."

And I would too, if the captain hadn't locked us in the engine room. Something's going on. If they don't want me off the ship, there's something else going on...

Pete. They know why I need to get back and they don't want me to stop them.

Well, I'm on the ship now. Harry doesn't think I should be here, but my mom was real happy to see me. Dad too. But Harry just keeps belly-aching about how I'm too young to be dead already. I don't think so, but Harry keeps insisting I need to get off this boat.

MacGyver was thrown off a parking deck and landed on a parked car. He is now in a coma in a hospital in California, while his grandfather, Harry Jackson, has suffered a heart attack and is in a hospital in Minnesota.

******

There's a ship and Harry's been told he can get on, but not me. Why? Why can't I go along? I don't understand. My parents are on that ship. Do you have any idea how long it's been since I've seen my parents? I haven't seen my dad since I was a boy and my mom died while I was on assignment. It's just been too long. I just want to see them again. And, I think, maybe, I'm ready to go. Move on. I've done so much and been through more than enough; I don't think I want to keep going like that.

While waiting to fly home to his ailing grandfather, MacGyver pursues a thief who's stolen an Egyptian artifact tied to ancient beliefs about the afterlife.

Grandpa Harry's in the hospital - he's had a heart attack and I can't get a flight until who knows when. *facepalm* I need to be there. But, I need to be here to help Pete too. This Sunboat that's being returned to the Egyptian government needs pretty tight security. I don't know if I can handle this right now.

This looks really bad... no, well, the stolen Sunboat part too, but I meant this guy throwing me over the parking deck railing. Yeah - falling. Hate that. And you know how they say your life flashes before your eyes? Well, it doesn't - mostly, the only thing I see is the top edge of the parking deck getting smaller and smaller - or, I think that's what I see... why does the sky have rafters?

So far, the only thing I've figured out for sure is that the guy on trial probably isn't the shooter. Considering that according to The Bird Lady's bird, the man who did the shooting was bald.

*****

I asked Pete to help me out with this... which he did. I knew he would and he was almost held in contempt of court for it. Turns out I got that instead. That's what happens when you break jury sequester.

*****

However, in the end, the right man - and woman - was brought to justice and there's a guy at the TV station who doesn't like me much. That doesn't bother me at all. No, what bothers me, is that two people had to die to bring a killer to justice.

Keep the media out of the courtroom.

I'm going to bed.

As a juror in a racially charged murder trial, MacGyver can't resist digging up more facts on his own, which courts the wrath of the judge, even though he may be on to the truth.

Jury duty.

Sequestered jury duty.

Need I say more?

Okay - so, kidnappers kidnapped the wrong girl, so they made a trade. Go figure. Kidnapped the right girl and demanded a 3 million dollar ransom.

All-in-all, it all turned out all right - kidnappers sent on their way, Mr. Woodward promised to reopen the steel mill - with some heavy lecturing from his young daughter, Lisa - and Lisa and Ingrid are both safe with their parents.

Now, I think it's time for some well-deserved hockey.

A steel executive whose mill has been shut down seeks vengeance by kidnapping the daughter of the corporate raider responsible for the closure.

So, I'm sitting at home, taping up a hockey stick for a little skirmish I have this afternoon and the phone rings. And it's not good news. Lisa Woodward's been kidnapped and I've told her father that I'll do what I can to try to find her. I've also told him to call the police...

previously in the ventilation shaft

…the end of the ventilation shaft.

There's a sound like a gunshot behind me. Gunshot? Is he crazy? In here? I kick the grating off the ventilation shaft and give a quick look around before I crawl through and lower myself to the floor. Definitely not a bar at the end of the universe. I'm not sure if that's good or bad. It is the mall, however. Aww man. Security guard. Again. And it's the same guy from before. This should go well.

"Hey! You again?" He doesn't look all that happy.

"Yeah. Sorry, officer. Um, there's a man with a gun coming in behind me. You might want to keep an eye on him." And I casually stroll past the security guard to the main doors. The mall's not as busy as I figured it would be. Oh well, I can still get lost enough to slip through the doors unnoticed…

Unless the guy has buddies waiting outside. Damn.

A large man points a large gun at my head. "You have something we want."

"Can't imagine what I could possibly have that you would want."

"The combination. Hand it over," the man with the gun growls. The other guy just stands there looking fierce.

He's kidding right? "Combination?" I ask, trying to look as confused as possible. "I really don't have any idea what you're talking about."

"Shoot 'im. We'll just dig it off him after he's dead," the fierce-looking one says, which scares me a little.

Gotta think fast here - something to get out of this without getting shot.

Hey - look at that - someone's car alarm went off and both of these goons turned around to see what it was. I'll just go this way.

Yep, right back into the mall and into where the other goon is… being lead away in handcuffs by the security guard. I slow to a walk and ease myself into a staff corridor. No goons at the end. For now.

Looking around, I make my way around the parking deck and locate my car… okay, not my car, but the car I'm using for this little excursion. Too many people know my car.

*****

"And the combination is safe in the hands of the…"

"Foreign dignitary who lost it. Yes," I finish for Pete. "Everything's fine."

"What about those guys who were following you?"

"They've been taken into custody by the local authorities. The one the mall guard stopped rolled on his buddies."

"That's good. So…"

"So, I'm going to go home and get some rest. Bye, Pete." And I make my way out of the office before he can stop me. I need to get my sleep pattern back on something of it's normal track. That trip to the end of the universe threw everything out of whack.

[ooc: Takes place just before he ends up at Milliways.]

How did this happen? I'm back in the ventilation shaft in the mall. I just did this. Of course, I'm not handcuffed to an overly exuberant woman this time. Almost wish I was - would make this more interesting. But, also, more dangerous. What I have that the guy who's following me wants, isn't something that should be tossed around and caught like a football.

I see the end of the ventilation shaft...

[ooc: all episode summaries borrowed from The MacGyver FAQ with profuse thanks!]

A slightly off-key woman leads MacGyver on a wild chase to save a priceless violin - and the virtuoso who owns it - from hoods.

You ever go out for a nice bike ride and end up saving a violin? No? Yeah, me neither, until today. Of course, now I have to get my bike fixed.

Met a strange woman and a world-class violinist; crashed a Roaring Twenties party, crawled through a ventilation shaft into the mall... all for a violin.

This is crazy. I'm going to bed.

Hey, you've reached MacGyver. Obviously, I'm not able to take your call right now, but, we all know how these things work. So, when you hear the beep, go for it.
